Conduct original research in Mesoscale and Local-Scale Weather Hazards in collaboration with faculty in the College of Natural Sciences, College of Engineering, and others in the Paros Center for Atmospheric Research at UMass, Amherst. The main objective of this position is to conduct observations-based research, supported by numerical simulations, on high impact mesoscale and local-scale weather systems, with a strong motivation to obtain societally beneficial research outcomes.

The Turf and Landscape Educator II will be an integral part of UMass Extension’s Commercial Horticulture group, supporting the development and implementation of educational resources and programming; including organization, presentation, and delivery of relevant research-based information to meet the needs of horticultural stakeholders statewide, with the enhancement of economic, human, and environmental health and sustainability of relevant industries as priorities. The UMass Amherst Office of Faculty Development (OFD) seeks a non-tenure-track faculty position with a 100% FTE calendar-year (12-month) appointment for the position of Associate Director of Faculty Development. The Director reports to the Associate Provost for Faculty Development (APFD) and creates, implements, and evaluates a set of signature programs, resources and new initiatives to enhance the success of all faculty. The Associate Director also participates in analysis of surveys of faculty needs and satisfaction to inform this programming. The Associate Director is responsible for a set of faculty development program areas or initiatives, which will involve mentoring faculty within the program area, facilitating workshops and panels, developing or updating resources, and other activities, consistent with the mission of the Office of Faculty Development and the Associate Director’s interests and expertise.

The EFNEP Nutrition Educator delivers public education for UMass Extension Nutrition Education Program to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among at-risk, limited resource families and individuals encompassing all age groups in various locations throughout the Western Region of Massachusetts with the main office location located in Springfield, MA. This includes presenting a series of 8 to 10 lessons that focus on general nutrition, food preparation, food safety and food budgeting using approved curriculum materials in a variety of community settings. Recruitment of participants is also included as part of the workday. The individual will collect and manage participant data regarding knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors; ensuring confidentiality at all times.
