Job Summary:

Provide a workplace environment that encourages interpersonal skills, networking, and career growth for staff, faculty, and students who wish to expand and improve their prospects in an IT and Computer Science Setting.

Duties & Responsibilities:


Daily Work-Study Responsibilities
o Opening
Check Classroom readiness
Communicate with all faculties to ensure their classroom/activity/visual-aid needs are met
Ensure Classrooms and lab have supplies
o During the Day
Monitoring 2-6 activities
• All equipment needed
Double Coverage to ensure there’s enough help for walk-in student tutoring
Set up lab equipment/environment
Remote Tutoring
• Using Webex
• Using Discord
Maintain organization and cleanliness
Report any equipment failure
Issue IT tickets
o Closing
Shut down all machines
Classrooms are cleaned
Classrooms are locked
Computer Lab is cleaned

Competencies/KSAs:

Networking, problem solving ,and programing

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be enrolled in 6 credit hours, and have financial aid award.
Basic knowledge of computers usage and trouble shooting

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic knowledge of computer's hardware-based , software and networking

Basic troubleshooting of classroom/lab equipment and computers
A/V and visual-aid setup and readiness
Ticketing workflows (creating clear IT tickets, documenting, and escalating issues)
Remote support using Webex and Discord (virtual tutoring, screen sharing, basic tech triage)

Tutoring and Instructional Support

One-on-one and small-group tutoring (in-person and remote)

Assessing student needs and prioritizing help during walk-ins

Classroom/lab readiness checks and environment setup
Inventory and supplies management; maintaining organization and cleanliness
Lab equipment setup and basic safety/handling practices

Communication and Collaboration

Proactive communication with faculty about classroom/activity needs
Coordinating double coverage and hand-offs with teammates
Clear written and verbal updates, including concise incident reporting

Time Management and Prioritization

Monitoring 2–6 concurrent activities and triaging requests
Balancing scheduled tasks with walk-in demands
Staying calm and effective under time pressure

Customer Service and Professionalism

Frontline service mindset for students and faculty
Empathy, patience, and de-escalation during peak times
Reliability, attention to detail, and accountability
