Salary Range: The annual salary for this position is $65,723 and may be up to 5% higher depending on relevant experience, education, and certifications when compared to others doing substantially similar work.

Job Summary:

The Accounting Operations Specialist provides general administrative and accounting support to Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Purchasing functions. The Specialist role typically handles payroll calculations, tax withholdings, deductions, timekeeping records, reconciliations, and compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential Functions
• Assists with payroll, accounts payable, and procurement processes.
• Ensures compliance with relevant regulations.
• Serves as a liaison with other campuses and the community.
• Assists the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and year-end reporting requirements as needed.
• Leads special projects as assigned.
• Advises and provides information and direction utilizing CCCS and PCC policies and protocols.
• Coordinates any needed training for employees pertaining to procurement, purchase cards, travel cards, or other topics as required.
• Compiles data as requested to respond to college or system inquiries.
• Assists with bi-weekly and monthly payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing processing and reporting.

•Communicates effectively with students, colleagues, and others.
•Interacts professionally and respectfully with students, colleagues, and others.
•Assesses individual and department work processes and recommends improvements.
•Complies with State Fiscal Rules, State Board policies, System and College protocols, and departmental procedures.
•Obtains and maintains proficiency with required systems and equipment.
•Maintains confidentiality of student and employee information as required.
•Completes all required compliance training within the established timeline.
•Serves on committees and other groups as assigned.

Competencies/KSAs:

• Knowledge of best practices in Labor Laws, Accounting Practices, and Procurement
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Able to lift 15 pounds.
• Able to read and communicate in English.
• Mobility around campus.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education
• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution or an Associate’s degree and at least two years of related professional experience.

Experience
• At least two years of related professional experience in accounting, accounts payable, or purchasing.
• Prior experience in higher education.

Travel
•Colorado Community College System offices in Denver
•Fremont or Mancos, CO locations
•Conferences within or outside of Colorado
•Various locations within the college’s service area
Schedule
•State business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm
•Infrequent weekend and/or evening hours required

Selection Process:

PERA retirees are not eligible to fill this position except on an interim basis and only in accordance with PERA work provisions.
