About the role:
The Data Sharing & Governance Lead plays a critical role within Suncorp's Disaster Management Centre of Excellence, leading the strategic uplift and formalisation of data sharing across government and industry partnerships. This role establishes a scalable and repeatable framework for data sharing agreements, enabling Suncorp to leverage data as a business asset in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery.
The role supports alignment with regulatory obligations, risk management requirements, and Suncorp’s broader strategic goals.
More specifically, you will:
- Lead the development and execution of a formal data sharing strategy aligned to Suncorp’s Disaster Management and enterprise objectives.
- Design and manage the end-to-end process for Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) with external entities.
- Establish and lead a cross-functional Data Sharing Working Group to prioritise initiatives, streamline processes, and coordinate execution.
- Facilitate risk, legal, security, and privacy assessments and secure internal approvals in line with governance and compliance requirements.
- Monitor agreement execution and renewals to ensure visibility of terms, obligations, value, and risks across the agreement lifecycle.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for high-value data partnerships that support innovation and operational uplift.
- Collaborate closely with Disaster Management teams to embed shared data into operational processes, including the Disaster Management Coordination playbooks.
- Support the SCC team in maintaining and improving risk and governance frameworks, ensuring proactive controls management and adherence to regulatory and internal risk standards.
- Prepare supporting materials for decision-making, including value cases, risk assessments, stakeholder briefings, and governance reporting.
About You:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Information Management, Public Policy, or related field (mandatory).
- Project Management or Business Analysis Certification (desired).
- Demonstrated experience leading the negotiation and execution of data sharing or legal agreements, particularly with external agencies.
- Strong understanding of data governance, risk, and compliance frameworks in regulated industries.
- Proven ability to facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement across internal and external domains.
- Experience contributing to operational or strategic risk frameworks and/or audit readiness processes.
- Exposure to emergency management, disaster recovery, or government-facing programs (desirable)
Key Capabilities:
- Knowledge of regulatory, and risk management considerations relating to data use and sharing.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Ability to lead working groups and facilitate cross-functional coordination.
- Proficiency in writing formal documentation and supporting business decisions.
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and risk management.
- Proven capability in supporting governance, controls, and risk reporting processes.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to balance risk, value, and innovation in data sharing initiatives.
- Demonstrated capability in supporting operational risk and governance processes, including alignment to risk appetite statements, issue management, control monitoring, and audit readiness for a technology-led team.
- Experience embedding data sharing workflows into operational toolkits and response frameworks, including Disaster Management Coordination playbooks.
