Advice to 2025 Interns

We are writing to inform you that, in accordance with the terms of your current two-year contract with the Department of Health, there is no requirement for you to apply to register as a Resident Medical Officer.

Upon the commencement of your second year, once granted general registration, you will automatically progress to the role of Resident Medical Officer, which will be accompanied by an incremental increase to your salary and wages in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.  In preparation for your commencement to your second year as a Resident Medical Officer, you will have the opportunity to express your interest in either relocating to another region for the remainder of your contract or remaining in your current location.

For those interns wishing to explore relocation options, we kindly request that you follow the link provided below and complete the expression of interest form nominate your preferred region for your second year.

Should you choose to remain in your current location, you will not be required to complete this form.

Following the closure of the expression of interest period, those who have expressed a desire to rotate will be contacted by the relevant medical staffing unit.
