About The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Case Manager (Self Insurance) to play a pivotal leadership and mentoring role within our NSW Workers Compensation claims team. This permanent, full-time position based in Botany (NSW) offers the opportunity to lead by example, supporting the development of our case managers while managing a portfolio of complex and high-risk claims.
As a technical expert and team mentor, you will provide specialist guidance on claims strategy, quality assurance, compliance, and best practices in injury management. This role is central to delivering excellent outcomes for injured workers and the organisation, driving continuous improvement across our broader portfolio of active claims.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor Case Managers by providing technical guidance, coaching, and support on complex claims and legislative requirements.
- Manage a portfolio of high-risk and sensitive claims, ensuring quality decision-making and strong return-to-work outcomes.
- Drive compliance with SIRA legislation, internal procedures, and documentation standards across the team.
- Engage effectively with injured workers, employers, legal providers, and medical practitioners to resolve complex cases and support recovery.
- Oversee quality assurance through regular file reviews, team training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying trends, recommending process enhancements, and supporting capability development.
About You
You are a technically skilled and passionate claims professional who thrives on coaching others and making a positive impact. You bring a deep understanding of NSW workers compensation legislation and are confident navigating complex, high-risk claims with empathy, accuracy, and integrity. Your leadership style promotes learning, accountability, and excellence across the team. Additionally, you will have:
- Proven experience in a senior case management or technical mentoring role within workers compensation.
- Previous Self Insurance experience highly desirable.
- In-depth knowledge of NSW workers compensation legislation and SIRA regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex psychological and multi-trauma claims.
- Strong coaching, facilitation, and leadership skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly in handling sensitive or escalated issues.
- Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders including legal and medical professionals.
