About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Finance Business Partner to provide strategic financial leadership for our Local Government Sector portfolio. This role is critical in delivering high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and management accounting support across a network of public private partnership (PPP) contracts throughout New Zealand.
You will work closely with operational teams to provide accurate financial analysis, ensure compliance with reporting requirements, and support effective decision-making across multiple contracts. These contracts cover a range of community facilities, including parks, leisure centres, and public spaces across Auckland.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this permanent, full-time role is based in Henderson and offers the opportunity to contribute to the efficient financial management of essential local government services that enhance the everyday lives of Aucklanders.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a strategic partner to Local Government Sector, providing financial insights and guidance to support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
- Conduct detailed financial analysis, including variance analysis, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario planning.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide regular reporting to senior management.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have strong management accounting experience, a customer-centric focus, and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing requirements. We are seeking someone with substantial experience in a commercial environment in a business partnering finance/accounting role, ideally including experience with financial reporting, budgeting/forecasting, PPP accounting, and corporate governance measures.
- Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Commerce or similar.
- Hold CPA or CA membership, or nearing completion.
- Highly developed communication and robust stakeholder engagement ability.
- Proactive approach to relationship management and business partnering.
- Solution oriented and collaborative style.
- Experience and knowledge of Navision / D365 F&O highly desirable.
