About The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Open Space Services business as a Qualified Horticultural Tradesperson in Southeast Melbourne, based at Monash University, Clayton Campus. We’ve worked with Monash University for over 15 years. The location is unique. Approximately 250 acres in size, the Clayton Campus features extensive native landscapes, mature trees, community lawns, synthetic and natural turf sports grounds. On the job development and support will be provided to assist the successful applicant to become a highly valued member of the Programmed Team at Monash University.  

This is a Full-time position working Monday to Friday, with the option for Overtime hours as required.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake all horticultural activities, including shrub pruning, hedging and formative tree pruning

• Perform weed control through spraying and manual weeding
• Pest control
• Implement mulching programs to landscaped garden beds and tree bases
• Implement annual shrub and tree planting programs
• Use and maintain commercial small plant and horticultural equipment
• Ensure the campus is maintained and presented to a high standard
• Tree, lawn and garden bed debris collection and disposal
• Comply with all occupational health and safety processes and procedures
• Assist in the management of site fixtures (including irrigation systems) situated throughout the campus

About You

• Certificate II or III in Horticulture
• A Current Driver’s license
• Experience in operating a range of battery powered horticultural equipment
• The ability to execute work to a high standard.
• A clear commitment and understanding of Quality and Health, Safety and Environment systems
• An appreciation of and / or experience in the maintenance of Open Space assets
