About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and driven National Manager, Project Delivery to lead our Project Management Office (PMO) in New Zealand. This is a permanent, full-time position that can be based in Wellington, Auckland, or Christchurch, and plays a critical leadership role within our Facility Management business.

Reporting to the Head of Facility Management, NZ, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of capital projects across a diverse portfolio of high-profile facility management contracts. Managing a team of up to 10 Project Managers, and growing, you will drive excellence in project governance, delivery, and performance. Our projects range in value from ~$100K to $2M, covering everything from road resealing and fencing to demolition and major mechanical infrastructure upgrades.

Your role will centre on ensuring project scoping, feasibility, and commercials are sound; overseeing successful delivery to scope, time, and budget; and embedding a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and client satisfaction. You’ll work closely with senior leadership, clients, and stakeholders to align project outcomes with broader business goals.

Leveraging your extensive project management experience and leadership capabilities, your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead the PMO function and execution of capital projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project requirements including budget and schedule control.
  • Actively engage with clients and stakeholders, building strong relationships to secure new business and repeat opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships across contracts, fostering trust, service excellence, and long-term partnership opportunities.
  • Drive business development efforts, securing new work through strategic client engagement and market research.
  • Mentor and support Project Managers, providing guidance and governance to ensure project success.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define and execute long-term business strategies and project goals.
  • Ensure the implementation of safety, quality, and environmental standards across all projects.
  • Provide regular project reporting, including financial tracking, risk management, and project forecasting.

 

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have a proven track record in managing complex capital projects in a PMO environment, ideally within facility management, construction, infrastructure, or related sectors. You will bring strong business acumen, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of project delivery and risk management.

Additionally, you will demonstrate and possess the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end capital project governance, including feasibility, commercials, and close-out processes.
  • Strong business development experience with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Proven expertise in project leadership, financial management, and operational efficiency.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge of industry ‘best practices’ and regulatory requirements in project delivery.
  • A passion for leading teams and driving performance in a collaborative, safety-focused environment.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools, with a focus on streamlining operations and improving project outcomes.
