About The Opportunity

Programmed’s Facility Management department is seeking two Carpenters to join our Housing NSW Operations Team on a Full-time basis. This role offers the chance to be part of a dynamic team delivering reactive, preventative, and general maintenance across government housing properties.

The position is ideally based in Dubbo and will involve travel to regional towns, with occasional overnight stays.

Your first week will be spent at our Parramatta office completing inductions and training. Accommodation and expenses will be covered, and you’ll work alongside experienced Programmed tradespeople to ensure you’re set up for success.

While you will bring your carpentry skills to the role, much of your day-to-day work will involve practical, hands-on maintenance tasks. This includes replacing flyscreens, repairing kitchen cupboards, patching and fixing walls, and carrying out makesafe and reactive maintenance as required. There are no new builds or major construction projects – the focus is on keeping properties safe, functional, and well-maintained for residents.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Carry out general residential maintenance and repairs across government housing properties
  • Replace flyscreens, kitchen cupboards, and other minor carpentry fixtures
  • Patch and repair walls, doors, and other structures as needed
  • Conduct makesafe and reactive maintenance in response to urgent repair requests
  • Accurately record job progress, labour, and materials used
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain compliance with quality and environmental standards

About You

  • Trade qualification in Carpentry/Joinery
  • Current driver’s licence and white card
  • Able to work independently and get the job done without needing close supervision
  • Organised and structured in how you plan and complete your work
  • Ability to execute work to a high standard
  • Highly motivated and proactive
  • Strong commitment to quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems
