The Project

The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project.  The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.

With work underway, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.

 

The Opportunity

The project is seeking applications from a passionate Senior Quality Assurance Electrical Engineer to join the Mechanical & Electrical team. This role will be responsible to assist in the development, implementation, and auditing to ensure continual improvement of the CPB quality management system for the scope of works.

The responsibilities of this role will include but not be limited to;

  • Maintain, monitor compliance and seek improvement of the Project Management System and systems for data, document and record management.
  • Assist the Quality manager with implementation of the Project Quality Management Plan and assist in development of other project management plans.
  • Monitor Nonconformance reporting process for trends and be involved in investigation of significant NCR.
  • Identify, assess and control risks to project quality of product and reject non-conforming materials or products.
  • Ensure appropriate Quality requirements are included in project delivery documentation including subcontractor and supplier packages.
  • Review and close out work lot documentation and ensure compliance to the project specifications and standards.
  • Perform regular process control audits (PCVs) to ensure compliance and suggest improvements to the process.
  • Assist the Quality Manager with development and implementation of project audit schedule and the auditing of subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Assist project personnel with training in the project electronic document management systems, project management system and other applicable quality systems.
  • Provide guidance, support, coaching and/or mentoring on quality related matters/issues to Site and Project engineers, Foremen and workforce.
  • Prepare regular project reports showing progress to achieving project Quality objectives including identification of quality performance trends.

 

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in a discipline that develops critical thinking skills such as Engineering or Science or Trade Qualification in a discipline related to construction.
  • Minimum 10 years of construction experience including experience as an auditor of construction quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role with quality management systems, planning techniques and tools.
  • Awareness of relevant Australian and International standards, both technical and those related to management systems.
  • Good communication, consultation, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Solid relationship building and high-level writing skills.
  • Good presentation skills with ability to demonstrate and train others.

 

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
