About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.
The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity
Spark NEL D&C is seeking a Sustainability Advisor to join our team and help deliver industry-leading sustainability outcomes on Victoria’s most transformative infrastructure project.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and improving sustainability practices that relate to the social, economic, governance, and environmental impacts of activities conducted by Spark D&C. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team, you’ll play a key role in achieving best practice sustainability performance and contributing to a legacy project for the state of Victoria.
This role will be accountable for:
- Assisting in developing and implementing strategies/ initiatives that encourage and promote a high-performance culture and employee engagement, including the development of defined performance and behavioural expectations of individuals, teams, and the overall project.
- Supporting implementation of the Spark Sustainability Strategy across the project.
- Tracking and reporting sustainability outcomes against objectives and targets.
- Conducting sustainability site inspections, promoting awareness and understanding of sustainability throughout the project teams onsite.
- Supporting the Senior Sustainability Advisor with internal reporting, audits, and stakeholder engagement.
- Identifying key sustainability risks and opportunities and defining appropriate initiatives, and monitoring emerging sustainability issues, including legislative changes, climate risk, and industry trends.
Minimum requirements for this role are:
- Degree in a relevant social, environmental, engineering, economic, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a construction or infrastructure environment.
- Experience working with Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) or Green Star rating tools (ISAP/GSAP preferred).
- Demonstrated understanding of project risk management, compliance, and sustainability reporting.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- High proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
