CIMIC Group companies Pacific Partnerships, CPB Contractors and UGL, along with JV Partner John Holland, and as part of the Canberra Metro consortium, will finance, design, build and operate the next stage of Canberra’s world class light rail system, Stage 2A from the City to Commonwealth Park.
The Stage 2A “catenary free” or wireless extension will be delivered under Canberra Metro’s existing public private partnership (PPP) with the ACT Government.

As a Civil Project Engineer & Site Engineer, you’ll be at the heart of site execution and technical coordination, ensuring quality delivery on one of Canberra’s most significant infrastructure projects.

Key Accountabilities
As the Project Engineer you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of construction works for the Canberra Light Rail project. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the planning and execution of daily site activities, ensuring alignment with the project’s scope, schedule, and safety requirements.
- Providing the construction team with technical advice, including the interpretation of drawings, specifications, and design details.
- Monitoring and tracking project progress, maintaining accurate site records, and contributing to weekly progress reports and cost control.
- Collaborating with subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of works to the required quality and safety standards.
- Promoting and enforcing safety, environmental, and quality procedures in all on-site activities, in line with both project and regulatory requirements
What are we looking for you to bring to the team:
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Previous site-based experience on major building projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, project documentation, and
