Queensland is experiencing unprecedented growth, supported by a significant pipeline of work across the State, including the major infrastructure required to support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

In response to the scale and complexity of this program, the QLD/PNG Business Unit is seeking to appoint highly experienced Commercial Directors and Senior Commercial Managers to support the successful delivery of upcoming projects.   

Your opportunity

This role is responsible for developing, implementing and leading the commercial framework for assigned projects. Responsibilities include contract management, client engagement, procurement strategy, subcontract administration, cost control and forecasting, commercial risk management, insurances and reporting.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure full compliance with all relevant legal, commercial and corporate standards, policies and agreed benchmarks;
  • Lead the effective identification, mitigation and management of commercial and financial risks;
  • Provide timely commercial, contractual and risk advisory support to senior stakeholders;
  • Lead, develop and mentor high-performing Commercial and Administration teams; and
  • Provide strategic commercial oversight and guidance and project delivery.  

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Extensive experience operating as a Commercial Director or Senior Commercial Manager within the construction industry; ideally with a Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor;
  • Advanced expertise in project systems, commercial governance, contract administration and project management frameworks;
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including experience leading large, high-performing commercial teams;
  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management capabilities, supported by exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
  • A strong attention to detail, coupled with sound commercial judgement; and
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Law, Engineering or a related discipline.
