Queensland is experiencing unprecedented growth, supported by a significant pipeline of work across the State, including the major infrastructure required to support the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
In response to the scale and complexity of this program, the QLD/PNG Business Unit is seeking to appoint a highly experienced Finance Manager support the successful delivery of upcoming projects.
The Opportunity
This role will ensure the financial integrity of the project is maintained and enhanced through process, systems and best practice decision-making. It will also prepare financial reports, accounting records and other information allowing the project and senior leaders to make best decisions for the project
In addition to these, you will:
- Monitor and control all project accounting systems and processes;
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial and management reports;
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of budgets and forecasts for programs and projects;
- Manage the month end accruals process and monthly/regular auditing requirements (both CIMIC and external);
- Manage the timely and accurate payments to creditors and sub-contractors in accordance with trading terms and conditions;
- Coordinate the preparation of monthly project claims, including invoicing and support documentation;
- Manage project cashflow, balance sheet, audit and tax reporting requirements;
- Ensure effective accounting and cost controls are in place at all times;
- Oversee and monitor accounts processing, ensuring the correct level of authorisation in accordance with company policy and legislation;
- Lead the project finance team, developing capability and driving performance;
- Provide strategic financial advice to senior leadership.
Our minimum requirements for this role are:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance and/or Business (preferred) and a holder of a CPA accreditation;
- Experience in a similar role including previous construction industry experience;
- Ability to interpret legislation, rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all state, federal and local and contractual guidelines;
- Awareness of policy and application of Corporate Limits of Liabilities and contractual and financial systems, processes and procedures;
- JDEdwards experience would be highly regarded;
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and application;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
