CPB Contractors, together with fellow CIMIC Group companies, UGL and EIC, is proud to be driving the ground-up development of a multi-megawatt data centre in Truganina in the western suburbs of Melbourne. As the trusted delivery partners for Coravel, a global digital infrastructure platform, we will be frontiering mission critical facilities and infrastructure. Our expertise will seamlessly integrate complex systems across mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire, power and telecommunications among much more.

Our integration with Coravel, empowers this build to draw on the shared knowledge and aligned systems across an international network to bring global best practice to our region.

The 80 MW data centre will consist of two adjoining 40MW data centres featuring complex internally integrated electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, fire protection, ICT and security systems. Construction will also involve extensive external inground services works, modular electrical equipment including HV / Fire protection facilities construction and civil finishing works.

Your opportunity

This is a significant build with complex risks, tight programs and multiple stakeholders working together to achieve a successful outcome. We need someone who can provide strong safety leadership while remaining practical, approachable and connected to what's happening on site.

Working closely with project leaders, supervisors and subcontractors, you'll play a key role in shaping how safety is planned, managed and delivered throughout the project lifecycle. You'll be a trusted advisor, someone who can influence decisions, challenge thinking when needed and help teams manage risk without losing sight of project outcomes.

This role is about more than compliance. It's about building relationships, coaching leaders, strengthening capability and creating an environment where people take ownership of safety because they understand its importance, not because they're told to.

If you're someone who can see the bigger picture, build credibility quickly and work alongside teams to solve problems before they become issues, you'll thrive in this role.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with project leaders and delivery teams to drive strong safety performance across the project
  • Providing practical advice and guidance on safety, risk management and project compliance requirements
  • Coaching and supporting leaders to build safety capability and accountability within their teams
  • Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working
  • Leading incident investigations and supporting teams to identify meaningful corrective actions
  • Monitoring project performance, trends and emerging risks to support better decision-making
  • Supporting training, communication and engagement initiatives across the project
  • Promoting a positive safety culture through visible leadership and genuine stakeholder engagement

What you'll bring

  • Experience in a senior Health & Safety leadership role within major construction, infrastructure or data centre projects
  • A strong understanding of high-risk construction environments and how to manage operational risk effectively
  • The ability to influence, coach and build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience improving systems, processes and behaviours, not simply maintaining them
  • Strong judgement, a pragmatic approach and the confidence to have challenging conversations when required
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex issues into practical outcomes
  • A visible, hands-on leadership style and a genuine commitment to supporting people to work safely

We particularly welcome and encourage applications from Indigenous Peoples, women, the LGBTQIA+ community, mature workers, Veterans and Active Defence Reserve members, people with disabilities and people from different cultural backgrounds. CPB Contractors is proud to hold the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Citation - Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.

We’re always looking for ways to make CPB Contractors a more rewarding place to work and offer a unique set of benefits, including:

  • A rewarding career where we support your development, training and promote from within.
  • Opportunities across all construction sectors so that there is always an opportunity suitable for the next stage in your career.
  • Competitive remuneration and excellent benefits including a health and wellbeing program, discount portal and company-funded salary continuance insurance.
  • Flexible work arrangements and a culture that values diversity and innovation.
