We hire for careers, not project life. CPB Contractors has more than 50 major infrastructure projects in delivery, across all key sectors of the construction industry, including roads and bridges, rail, tunnelling, defence, airports, buildings and resources, providing you with career opportunities for years to come.

The Project

CPB Contractors is working on a Faster Rail, a large rail and infrastructure project as part of building Queensland’s future. This project will play an important role ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games while delivering improvements for everyday Queenslanders by providing more frequent and reliable services around Southeast Queensland.

The Role

As a key member of our Safety team, Heavy Vehicle and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Coordinator you will take overall responsibility for ensuring the organisation complies with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) and Chain of Responsibility obligations across all construction projects, transport activities, and supply chain operations.

The role supports the safe movement of plant, equipment, materials, aggregates, spoil, and construction products by implementing effective CoR systems that manage risks associated with vehicle mass, loading, load restraint, fatigue, vehicle maintenance, scheduling, and subcontractor transport activities.

Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Supervisors, Fleet personnel, subcontractors, and transport providers, the CoR Coordinator drives a proactive compliance culture and ensures transport-related risks are effectively identified, managed, and controlled.

What You’ll Do

You will play a critical part in the Safety Team and your key responsibilities will cover the following areas –

  • Providing expert advice during project planning and mobilisation phases.
  • Development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's Chain of Responsibility Management System.
  • Ensure compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL), NHVR requirements, and company policies.
  • Monitor compliance across construction sites, quarries, workshops, depots, and project locations.
  • Establish and maintain procedures for Vehicle Mass Management, load restraint, fatigue management, vehicle maintenance, transport scheduling, speed management and fitness for duty requirements
  • Conduct compliance reviews and coordinate corrective and preventative maintenance
  • Oversee contractor and subcontractor management in your relevant area

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Whilst you may not have worked in a HV/CoR specialised role, you will ideally come from a strong background in heavy industry safety, where HV and CoR were part of you overall role as a Safety Professional.

  • You will have exceptional communication skills, coupled with the ability to educate other site and team members on the criticality of CoR compliance.
  • Your work history will show that you have been successful in fostering an environment where regulatory compliance for transport, logistics and road safety, is at the forefront of everyone on site’s mindset.
  • Relevant certifications in Safety are critical as is experience in building relationships with key stakeholders including contractors and sub-contractors
  • You will have extensive experience in playing a key part in influencing actions, behaviours and decisions in regard to compliance and safety that ensure the overall site and company’s regulatory and safety targets are consistently met
