Suburban Connect is on the lookout for an experienced Temporary Works Manager to spearhead the Temporary Works efforts for the groundbreaking Suburban Rail Loop project.

The Victorian Government has chosen the Suburban Connect consortium, made up of CPB Contractors, ACCIONA, and Ghella, to lead the first major tunnelling work on the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) Connect project.

The project includes building a 16-kilometre section of twin tunnels, digging between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley, creating 55 safety passages between the tunnels, setting up station boxes at Clayton and Monash, and constructing entrances and exits (portals) to the tunnels at the stabling facility.

About the Opportunity:

As Temporary Works Manager, you will ensure implementation of the temporary works design management process in accordance with Safety Essentials. The role is accountable for:

  • Continually seek to identify and implement improvements to the temporary works design management systems and processes to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Maintain a detailed program that identifies and forecasts the development of temporary works design packages.
  • Review and manage Temporary Works design costs, budgets and forecasts
  • Drive and coordinate the performance of temporary works coordinators, designers, based on best practice, meeting internal and external needs.
  • Coordinate relevant technical matters with key project internal and external interfaces
  • Ensure the temporary works design is coordinated with Permanent Works Design, Utilities Design, traffic management staging and construction procedures.

Minimum requirements for the role are:

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
  • Ideally, 10+ years’ experience in temporary works design management on large civil projects or heavy civil construction delivery
  • Strong working knowledge of implementing project controls to achieve time, cost, quality outcomes.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Strong organisation, commercial and business acumen
