About North East Link 

The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads. 

About the Opportunity 

We are looking for an experienced Cross Passage Site Engineer to join our TBM team on SPARK North East Link, concentrating on Cross Passage excavation, lining and fitout works.

You will provide onsite engineering service and technical support to ensure short-term planning and programming of works is completed with the site supervision staff. You will also be supporting our PE’s and SPE’s across the TBM sections of the project to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.

Please note, this is a full-time salary-based role and will be required to work a 7/3 7/4 roster (work 7 nights followed by 3 days off, work 7 days followed by 4 days off).

This role will be accountable for:  

  • Development and management of daily cost reporting
  • Providing on-site engineering support to help achieve the required project objectives.  
  • Monitoring key construction requirements and implementing prompt corrective action if required, to ensure they are achieved in line with agreed specifications.  
  • Site mobilisation and setup for TBM/Cross Passage works
  • Writing method statements, risk assessments and preparing site records
  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities to ensure that projects are implemented in accordance with plans, designs and specification
  • Develop monthly program and Monitor adherence to the program.

 Minimum requirements for this role are:  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Science, Building Construction, Construction Management or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
  • Specific experience of TBM Tunneling/Cross Passages
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in similar role
