The Project
The CPB Contractors, Ghella & UGL joint venture has been successful in securing the contract to deliver the $3.1bn M6 Stage 1 project. The project will deliver the missing link from Sydney’s south to the wider Sydney motorway network making journeys easier, faster and safer. It will remove more than 2,000 trucks a day from surface roads and help return local streets to local communities.
With works commenced in early 2022, the M6 Stage 1 project scope includes the construction of twin four-kilometre tunnels and associated works, linking the M8 Motorway at Arncliffe to President Avenue at Kogarah.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Permit Officer to join our Commissioning team on the M6 Stage 1 Project. The role will be responsible for planning, implementation and monitoring of commissioning permits and isolations.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead the development and implementation of a positive safety culture across the project
- Supervise and coordinate all activities relating to daily work permits
- Work with the M6 Stage 1 Permit to Work Manager to establish an integrated permit team
- Understand and be familiar with project Isolations, energisation and PTW procedures and forms. Ensure personnel compliance with the permit to work process and procedures
- Coordinate/review submission of all commissioning permits to work, including commissioning minor works permits, permits to energise, isolation and non-isolation permits for works within a commissioning zone
- Daily issue, relinquish, and closure of permits ensuring permit holders are briefed in work scope
- Attend daily PTW coordination meetings
- Auditing of commissioning permits to ensure compliance with the procedure is maintained
About You
- Must hold a current NSW Electrical license
- Previous experience as a Commissioning Permit Officer within a tunnelling environment
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge with Permit to Work and Isolation/Tagging systems and applicable legislation
- Considerable experience working on major/large projects specifically within a Mechanical & Electrical scope
- Proficient skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, Email
The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.
