Cross River Rail is one of Queensland's most significant infrastructure projects, aimed at transforming the public transport network in Brisbane. As a new 10.2-kilometre rail line, it will connect key areas within the city, reducing congestion and enhancing connectivity for commuters. To ensure the success and safety of this project, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Advisor to join our team.
Role Overview: As a Safety Advisor for the Cross River Rail project, you will play a critical role in promoting and maintaining a culture of safety excellence throughout the construction and operation phases of the project. You will collaborate closely with various stakeholders, including contractors, project managers, and regulatory bodies, to ensure that safety standards are met or exceeded at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety policies, procedures, and protocols in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential safety hazards and assess the effectiveness of safety measures in place.
- Provide expert advice to project teams on safety matters, including risk assessments, incident investigations, and emergency response planning.
- Deliver safety training and induction programs for employees, contractors, and visitors to ensure a strong safety awareness culture.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning, design, and execution.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related incidents, near misses, and corrective actions, and generate reports for management review.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments in safety practices to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Safety Advisor or similar role within the construction or infrastructure industry.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant safety regulations and standards.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Certification in workplace health and safety (e.g., Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety) will be advantageous.
- High level of attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
