The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Health and Hygiene Advisor to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based in Brisbane and will report into the Group Manager, Health, Wellbeing and Occupational Hygiene. The role will be responsible for providing support to stakeholders on occupational health and hygiene hazards, wellbeing, implementation of control and health monitoring measures, to ensure compliance with health and safety procedures and regulations. 

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Supporting the business unit and project/s to implement the pre-employment medical and health monitoring program
  • Supporting the implementation of CPB’s Health Risk Assessment and exposure monitoring program
  • Supporting the business’ wellbeing initiatives
  • Administering and maintaining the health and hygiene database of employee health records and occupational hygiene exposure data
  • Ensuring data accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with privacy regulations
  • Utilizing database resources to generate reports, track trends, and monitor upcoming and overdue actions
  • Developing training programs and other initiatives to achieve business objectives in occupational health, wellbeing and hygiene
  • Liaising with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies regarding nationwide health (including mental health), wellbeing and occupational hygiene issues
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned, which are reasonably related to their job responsibilities and within their training and competence

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Allied Health, Occupational Health and Safety, Nursing (Occupational Health), or related field
  • Formal qualifications recognised by the AIOH or working towards, with minimum of provisional membership, advantageous
  • 3 years’ experience working in occupational health and hygiene or related field, preferred
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, health assessment techniques, occupational hygiene sampling and relevant legislation
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in database management and use of relevant software applications
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism in all aspects of work
  • Strong attention to detail, yet ability to see the big picture
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment
  • Willingness to travel
