About North East Link 

The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project. 

The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project. 

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads. 

Please be advised that this project is a large scale T1 project with potential for 24/7 shift work, whilst we will aim for weekend work to be split fairly between employees there may be role requirements on occasion for evening shift work. 

About the Opportunity 

We are seeking a Building Services Project Engineer to support the delivery of mechanical, electrical and fire services across buildings and tunnel ventilation plant room fitout works.
Working closely with the Buildings, Fitout and MEI teams, you will assist with coordinating services subcontractors, managing construction interfaces and supporting the delivery and commissioning of complex building systems. This role offers excellent exposure to large-scale services coordination and infrastructure delivery within a Tier 1 project environment.

Key highlights:

  • Work on a major infrastructure project delivering complex building and tunnel ventilation plant systems
  • Coordinate mechanical, electrical and fire services across buildings, fitout and MEI tunnel plant interfaces
  • Be involved in construction, system integration and commissioning of critical infrastructure

Position Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate building services subcontractors across mechanical, electrical and fire packages
  • Ensure services installations comply with design specifications, drawings and contracted scope
  • Manage interfaces between services trades, fitout works and MEI teams, including tunnel ventilation plant rooms
  • Identify and resolve construction interface issues between trades and disciplines
  • Monitor long lead items, procurement and installation sequencing
  • Support planning and programming of services works with Buildings and Fitout teams
  • Assist with cost forecasting and subcontractor coordination for services trades
  • Participate in design coordination and services interface meetings
  • Support temporary services management and energisation / de-energisation planning
  • Assist with system commissioning and integration with project commissioning teams

Minimum requirements for this role:

  • ~5+ years’ experience in building services, commercial construction or infrastructure projects
  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree, diploma, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience coordinating building services trades on construction projects
  • Strong understanding of construction interfaces and multidisciplinary coordination
  • Familiarity with Tier 1 safety, environmental and quality management systems
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
