The Project 

The New Dunedin Hospital project is the single largest hospital project ever undertaken in New Zealand. Following an extended period of Early Contractor Engagement, Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand has confirmed their intention to enter into contract with CPB Contractors for the Inpatient Building, in recognition of our depth of experience in the delivery of healthcare facilities across Australasia and our contribution to the project to date.

Spanning 71,700m2 and constructed on the former Cadbury Chocolate Factory in the centre of the city, the Inpatient Building will provide high-quality acute medical facilities in support of its role as a tertiary teaching hospital. Onsite services will include 424 beds, including future expansion of 53 beds. A total of 24 theatres, including a future capacity of 2 theatres, imaging suites and radiology. With a five-star Greenstar sustainability rating, the building's design and its use of the latest technology will provide real change to the delivery of healthcare within the region.

Your Opportunity

  • Coordinating to all direct report site employees, plant resources and subcontract teams to achieve quality and safety objectives in accordance with the project programmes and schedules
  • Effectively coordinating and supervising the utilisation of all on-site resources for the project
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements and all relevant Company and Group policies and processes.
  • Ensuring subcontracts act safety and comply with safety requirements
  • As part of the overall project, CPB will be refurbishing the existing Dairy Building to use for the trades. Your role will be to effectively carry out this bespoke part of the works in its own right. 
  • Taking the design issued to date and utilising a single subcontractor to carry out the works
  • The team requires an element of flexibility across the other active work fronts (substructure and Concrete works)
  • Once the dairy building is completed, we will be transferring the supervisor to the main project full-time
  • A great opportunity for a long-term role on this Iconic project

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • AQF Certificate II in Construction (or equivalent)
  • Experience as a leading hand
  • Structural steel experience and experience with refurbishment / strengthening of existing buildings would be beneficial
  • Managed self and resources to deliver work to $10M
  • Applying principles of construction to deliver works in accordance with scope of works technical criteria (SWTC)
  • Demonstrated commercial experience includes planning up to 4 weeks ahead and monitoring of resources within area of accountability
