Job Duties

Planning for contract

  • Collaborate with Senior Management Team, Construction team, Commercial Manager to understand project requirements and seek clarifications on scope.
  • Produce delivery programme, review construction methodologies, resources, design, contract time obligations.
  • Ensure reliance upon client and responsibilities are clearly identified and consistent with the contract and commercial strategy to ensure that the effect of change can be modelled.
  • Develop with his team the programme schedule and timelines for performing the construction work based on resource requirements, historical trending of such projects etc. while striving for optimal resource utilization.
  • Incorporate robust construction methodology using innovative technology to optimize construction plans.
  • Highlight the opportunities and risks associated with the time related aspects of bids.
  • Participate in business development meetings as needed.

 

Plan monitoring

  • Conduct regular meeting with Project Managers of each team in the project to review progress against plans; Provide guidance and technical expertise for resolution of complex issues.
  • Provide advisory support to Project Managers / Project Directors to improve overall plans for the projects on regular and on-going ad-hoc basis.
  • Raise escalations to Project Directors as needed to minimize deviations from plan.
  • Prepare a monthly summary report on the status of each project.

 

Problem resolution

  • Monitor closely project progress and adherence to project plans in case project deviations are large.
  • Discuss deviations to plans internally, identify causes and develop mitigation plan; Collaborate with Commercial team and Project Leaders to finalize the terms.
  • Present revised timelines and negotiate with the client on modifications and changes to timelines favorably.
  • Negotiate improved terms and timelines with suppliers and sub-contractors as needed.
  • Apply various delay and disruption analysis methods.
  • Provide advisory support for the substantiation of entitlement claims.

 

Stakeholder management

  • Enhance business understanding and anticipate client needs.
  • Maintain ongoing and regular communication / interactions with business heads; Anticipate project risks based on new developments.
  • Build high-levels of trust and engagement with senior representatives of the client organizations for strengthening the on-going engagement.

 

People management

  • Select team members keeping mind technical requirements of the project as well as cultural and inter-personal aspects.
  • Align goals, responsibilities and tasks of team-members across multiple functions and departments to the common goals of the project.
  • Set stretch targets for the team across financial, customer, safety, quality and learning perspectives.
  • Evaluate performance of subordinates, provide candid feedback and coach them to higher levels of performance.
  • Train and mentor subordinates on technical as well as behavioral aspects of their respective roles.
  • Provide opportunities to the team to develop their capabilities through job-rotation and increased delegation of responsibilities.
  • Recognize and encourage high performing subordinates.
  • Resolve issues faced by subordinates

 

Safety, Health & Environmental

  • Oversee timely training of the project team and sub-contractor team on all HSE guidelines of LAIO and local governmental regulations; Oversee adherence of the project team to safety walks
  • Review HSE reports received from subordinates on a weekly basis; Guide subordinates on addressing existing/potential concerns
  • Cascade any company-level initiatives to project level; oversee implementation of the same through subordinates
  • Address the team on a regular basis regarding the criticality of HSE in the organisation and its linkage with project success
  • Provide strong & visible leadership of safety and drive commitment of project team to safety objectives

 Job Requirements

  • Degree in Building / Civil Engineering & membership of professional association
  • 15 years’ experience in project planning in large scale Civil / Building projects
  • Knowledge of planning processes, tools
  • Knowledge stakeholder management, conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of risk management
  • Good understanding of construction methodologies
  • Proficient in the use of various delay and disruption analysis techniques
