About the role
Thiess is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer - Medium Term to join the Technical Services team to deliver high-quality solutions and results at Pembroke Resource’s new project in the Bowen Basin – the Olive Downs Complex.
Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex is a greenfield project located 40 kilometres south-east of Moranbah which commenced mining operations in mid-2023. Thiess has been awarded a five-year contract to deliver full service mining operations, including mine planning overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (Autonomous), water management and rehabilitation as well as construction of the mine infrastructure.
This role reports through to the Technical Services Superintendent and is a 5/2/4/3 day shift only roster (9 day fortnight) with the option to work one week at our Brisbane corporate office and the other week on site at our Olive Downs Complex.
The key responsibilities in this role include:
- Rollout of efficient medium term mining plans, schedules, and excavator dig & dump designs for the mining operation.
- Work closely with client mine planning team to coordinate the Thiess plan with an emphasis on a strong collaboration with key stakeholders
- Provide and implement designs, including pit and dump design, dozer push, rehabilitation, and water management designs.
- Implementation and compliance of the Weekly Plan and site Safety Health and Environmental standards to ensure safe and sustainable Mine standards.
- Assessing opportunities to maximising equipment utilisation
- Assist with in house software and data capture software to run reports as required.
About you
- Demonstrated commitment to Thiess principles of Integrity, Accountability, Innovation and Delivery.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ operational mining engineering experience (open cut preferred).
- Experience with MS Office, Vulcan, XPAC or SPRY, Deswik, 3D Dig or similar software
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team environment.
- A commitment to the best practice of health and safety at all times
- Excellent behavioural, time management, analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
