As a Permanent Full-Time GIS Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our operations across the Asia region. Your primary responsibilities will include designing, implementing, and maintaining GIS solutions, analyzing spatial data, and providing technical expertise to support decision-making processes. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of GIS systems with other operational systems.

About the role

In this role, you will:

  • Develop GIS database and conduct, where required, daily maintenance of GIS databases for the region, including but not limited to, editing, data creation and processing.
  • Consult and coordinate with site survey teams, clients, mine planning and other personnel to collect data for use within GIS systems.
  • Consult and coordinate with site survey teams, clients, mine planning and other personnel to determine GIS requirements including reporting, tools, data provision and sharing.
  • Provide local guidance, setup, troubleshooting and training regarding activity associated with mobile GIS and mobile Nintex eForms.
  • Be responsible for management of permissions for staff via Azure Active Directory for Access to BlueView.
  • Be responsible for training of local users for BlueView use relevant to each site.
  • Oversee any staff doing data processing tasks for the region or perform data processing tasks as required. Determine appropriate levels of accuracy for each site and look at the integration of more accurate and current data within existing databases.
  • Manage the metadata for all data that is owned by the region.
  • Work with Thiess head office to request and implement the development of new GIS tools and reports, scripts and related products and procedures suited to the region.
  • Identify new spatial projects that can be used to drive efficiency or save costs in the region.
  • Be responsible for the output of cartographic products from ArcGIS Desktop as needed for the region.
  • Manage the process for the publishing of data to the web.
  • Coordinate GIS desktop software access for staff in the region where required.

About you

  • Tertiary education in GIS/Geomatics, Spatial Science, ICT or a related discipline or have gained relevant experience in the GIS
  • Demonstrated thorough and recent experience and capability in GIS.
  • Must have experience with ESRI web GIS applications including ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server, ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal and ArcGIS Online
  • Must have experience with Enterprise / relational databases such as SQL Server, PostGres, Oracle, ArcGIS Data Store
  • (Highly regarded) Experience with ArcGIS Collector Application, Survey123 application and ESRI Field Maps
  • (Highly regarded) Experience with ArcGIS framework such as Geocortex essentials, VertiGIS, etc.
  • (Desirable) Experience with: Global Mapper, Vulcan, I Site Studio.
  • Proficient in Python programming language, with a desirable skill in JavaScript programming language
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Willing to travel if required 
  • Easy going manner that can work with personnel at all levels of the organisation
