About the role

As Technical Services Manager at the Eva Copper Project, you will be responsible for managing the Technical Services team to ensure designs, planning, measuring, recording, and reporting of mining and pit development activities are conducted in a manner that improves operational and financial effectiveness and meet the Project’s requirements.  This position is also responsible for overseeing the scheduling for the Thiess fleet operations to meet contractual obligations and targets.

Additionally, you will:

  • Facilitate periodic reviews of all critical mine planning inputs and reconcile actual vs planned performance
  • Lead development of all aspects of mine design, weekly planning and scheduling process documents and seek feedback/review through mine planning and other technical aspects
  • Participate in regular client & internal meetings to address ongoing mine planning methodologies, and strategies.
  • Ensure regular leadership engagement and work collaboratively with site technical services personnel and provide mentoring in technical development.
  • Understand and communicate contractual requirements both internally and with the client.
  • Strong engagement with Site Finance Department to ensure compliance with budget and end of month targets
  • Overseeing the Drill and Blast Engineering, Survey, Geology and Geotechnical Engineering on site
  • Development of short-term mine (0 – 3 months) plan volumes and financial forecasting and coordination of medium-term mine plans and schedules
  • Identify project risks from a technical, HSE and cost perspective during the mine planning phase so as to ensure their potential impact on the project are identified, documented and communicated
  • Ensure that risk management checklists are used for mine design and scheduling activities
  • Ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies are identified and make recommendation to the Site Project Manager

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining Engineering or Surveying
  • Substantial experience in a Mining Engineering environment, and previous experience working at a senior management level 
  • Understanding of MS Office, Vulcan, Deswik, SPRY,  Infomine/OCDC or other mine planning software
  • Contract Management
  • Project Financial Understanding
  • Influencing managers across a mine site
  • Mathematical/Analytical principles
