What you’ll do

Reporting to the Principal GIS Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting project teams with innovative geospatial solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support GIS applications and tools for desktop, web, and mobile platforms.
  • Manage spatial data within Thiess’ standardised GIS and ICT frameworks.
  • Provide technical assistance to projects during start-up and steady-state phases.
  • Deliver field training on GIS capture tools and champion safety in all activities.
  • Conduct user acceptance testing and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Drive consistency in GIS training and utilisation across projects.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

We’re seeking someone who is passionate about spatial data and eager to make an impact. You’ll bring a mix of technical expertise and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to engage stakeholders and deliver practical GIS solutions.

  • A tertiary qualification in Spatial Sciences, Surveying, ICT, Geography, or Engineering (preferred).
  • 1–2 years’ experience in GIS – recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong knowledge of spatial data themes and how they support decision-making.
  • Hands-on experience with ESRI tools including ArcPro, ArcGIS Server, and ArcGIS Enterprise/Portal.
  • Bonus points for experience with Survey123 and ESRI Field Maps.
  • A collaborative, approachable style and confidence working with people at all levels.

Unique Requirement: Occasional travel to sites and support centres may be require
