About the role
Thiess is currently recruiting for Mining Supervisors for our Eva Copper Mine Project, located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north-east of Mount Isa.
This role is being offered as a permanent position, Thiess has been awarded a 5 year mining contract, providing a great opportunity to be part of an exciting new project!
We strongly encourage locals in Northwest Queensland, including members of the Kalkadoon community and other First Nations people, to apply for this role on a BIBO basis. Depending on the successful candidate's location, the role can also be offered on a FIFO roster from either Townsville or Brisbane, with on-site accommodation provided.
Working a 14/14 day/night shift rotating roster and reporting to the Mining Manager, your duties will include:
- Build and maintain relationships with all stakeholders not limited to but including Technical Services and Maintenance teams
- Manage, report, and investigate all incidents within the mining operation and apply corrective actions at the level of responsibility
- Complete safety observations and critical control audits within own work area against current work procedures
- Execution of weekly plan and be able to highlight any shortfalls within the plan that have the potential to disrupt operations
- Attend the daily production meeting and be able to provide an accurate summary of the previous 24 hrs of production
- Add value and support our "Speak Up" culture, encouraging employees to live out and align with expected behaviours
- Support and development of operators ensuring competencies are kept up to date and individuals are fully aware of their responsibilities within the workplace
About You
You are a high-achieving Mining Supervisor with previous experience in a similar role. You are committed to driving a high-performing and inclusive team.
- Proven leadership and people management skills within an adaptive team
- Excellent organisational, communication, and presentation skills coupled with approachable and motivational qualities
- Prioritising and problem-solving are second nature
- A solid understanding of the processes involved with hard rock mining
