The Opportunity

Thiess are seeking an experienced Area Maintenance Manager to lead and drive maintenance performance across our mobile plant operations. This is a critical leadership role responsible for ensuring fleet reliability, safety, cost control and continuous improvement across multiple sites.

About The Role

The Area Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of plant & equipment across multiple mining projects. The Area Maintenance Manager is accountable to provide support and governance to the site maintenance operations to ensure Thiess business objectives are met in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, in line with legislative requirements.

Additionally, you will:

  • Promote a culture to ensure full compliance with all applicable Thiess safety standards & procedures.
  • Maintain the site maintenance management plan in accordance with business requirements.
  • Manage, influence and empower site teams to execute the planned maintenance activities, ensuring proactive to ensure performance targets and KPI’s are achieved.
  • Manage equipment breakdowns through effective offsite support and implementation of the appropriate processes.
  • Assist in the development of the annual budget and monthly budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensure maintenance operating costs and strategies reflect business objectives .
  • Oversee tyre management for the Project in line with Australian Mining and Thiess guidelines, processes and procedures.
  • Actively review and support the Mining Operations team to ensure that maintenance plans are aligned with production objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external key stakeholders.

About You

  • Maintenance or Mechanical Engineering qualifications or equivalent experience and trade qualifications.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ senior leadership experience in the supervision and management of maintenance personnel in an open pit mining environment.
  • Proven experience in ensuring our plant and equipment is maintained to a high safety, productive and reliable standard.
  • Sound knowledge of efficient safe mining and earthmoving maintenance practices.
  • Adaptability to changing operational situations
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills are a must, allowing you to build relationships across the team and departments.
  • Regular site travel required.
