About the role
We are seeking an experienced Autonomous Trainer to assist with the maintenance and effectiveness at Pembroke Resource's new autonomy project based in the Bowen Basin - the Olive Downs Complex.
This autonomous project, located 40 kilometres southwest of Moranbah, began operations in early 2023. Thiess has secured a five-year contract to deliver comprehensive mining services, including mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (autonomous & manned), water management, rehabilitation, and infrastructure construction.
Working an 8/6 roster and reporting to the Training Superintendent your duties will include:
- Developing, reviewing, delivering, and coaching Autonomous Systems material
- Working alongside two Training Specialists
- Communicate with Mining Supervisors and the Training Coordinator on Operator training requirements
- Preference on coaching, mentoring and developing the crew to reach and exceed KPI's
- Ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, including the OEM
- Being a Thiess’ representative and subject matter expert onsite and having an ongoing focus on continuous improvement
About you

- Demonstrate your understanding of Caterpillar assets, including a deep working knowledge of Minestar
- Ideally come from either a surface or underground mine site trade or technical operations background with a proven track record of delivering Caterpillar-based training
- Proven experience as a Trainer Assessor in a mining or other heavy industry environment with operational experience with the Resources and Infrastructure Industry Training Package
- Knowledge of the Coal Mining Safety and Health Act 1999 (QLD) including all relevant regulations, guidelines, and Australian standards
- Possess strong communication skills and be able to demonstrate your ability to coach and mentor crews and teammates
- Passionate about sharing knowledge and want a key role in the future of mining and autonomy
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or equivalent
