About the role

The role is responsible for providing site engineering support to deliver effective rehabilitation, drainage and water management outcomes in line with environmental approvals and mine plans.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare rehabilitation designs incorporating landform shaping, drainage integration and stability considerations.
  • Prepare topsoil stripping and handling designs to support rehabilitation outcomes.
  • Prepare drainage designs and drain diversion works to manage erosion and sediment.
  • Provide environmental engineering input to mine dewatering activities, including pit and off‑pit water movements and pumping plans to match coal delivery
  • Support wet weather preparedness planning for the pit, identifying risks and mitigation measures.
  • Undertake surface water and stormwater flow analysis to support effective environmental controls.
  • Undertake water balance modelling and runoff and evaporation analysis to support water management planning.
  • Provide environmental engineering input to mine planning, survey and operational activities.
  • Provide technical input into other civil or environmental engineering design requirements as they arise.
  • Identify and escalate environmental risks associated with earthworks, drainage and rehabilitation works.
  • Track rehabilitation polygons and disturbance areas and report on completed and planned works.
  • Review panorama photos (e.g. rehab and spine drain monitoring - erosion) and enter into Blueview
  • Manage environmental monitoring data, including lab results entry, review and validation.
  • Analyse trends in monitoring results and identify notable or non‑conforming outcomes.
  • Prepare summaries of monitoring data for internal reporting and environmental advisor review.
  • Prepare end‑of‑month contractor communications and verify quantities, data and supporting documentation.

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or similar
  • Experience in a mining, civil construction or heavy industry environment, preferably in a site‑based role.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and supporting rehabilitation, drainage, erosion control or water management works.
  • Experience working with contractors, including scoping, reviewing quotes and overseeing delivery of works.
  • Exposure to environmental monitoring data, regulatory requirements and approval conditions within a mining context.
  • Experience with specialist software (i.e Auto CAD, Blueview etc)
  • Strong analysis and reporting capability
  • Strong environmental legislative knowledge
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
