What you’ll do

As the Network Engineering Lead, you will lead a geographically dispersed global team across Australia, India and Indonesia, accountable for the strategy, operation and continuous improvement of Thiess’ enterprise, site and OT/autonomy network environments.

This is a senior, hands‑on leadership role that balances network strategy, technical governance and operational excellence, ensuring high availability and performance across global WAN, site communications and in‑pit autonomy networks where reliability is mission‑critical.

You will work closely with site operations, ICT leaders, autonomy and mining technology teams, along with key vendors and partners, to deliver standardised, secure and future‑ready network solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing global Network Engineering team across multiple regions
  • Ensure the stable, secure and efficient operation of Thiess’ global WAN, site and OT/autonomy networks
  • Drive network strategy, standards and roadmaps aligned to business growth, operational resilience and mining technology needs
  • Provide technical leadership across enterprise network platforms including Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper and Cambium
  • Support operational technology, fleet and autonomy systems in site and in‑pit environments
  • Maintain strong governance across cybersecurity, risk management, service continuity and major incident response
  • Build effective relationships with site leaders, ICT stakeholders, vendors and service providers
  • Support major changes, after‑hours escalation and travel to mine sites as required

What you’ll bring

You are an experienced network engineering leader with a strong background in complex enterprise and operational environments, ideally within mining, resources or similarly critical industries.

You bring:

  • Extensive experience in network engineering and operations, including global WAN and site‑based networks
  • Proven success leading geographically dispersed technical teams
  • Strong hands‑on expertise across WAN, LAN, wireless, routing, switching and security
  • Deep knowledge of Palo Alto, Cisco, Juniper and Cambium technologies
  • Experience supporting OT, industrial or autonomy network environments
  • A strong foundation in cybersecurity, network segmentation, firewall management and risk control
  • Experience in technical governance, vendor management and continuous improvement initiatives

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
  • Relevant network or security certifications highly regarded
  • Ongoing professional development in enterprise networking, cybersecurity and OT environments
