About the role

This role is responsible for supporting the sustainability team to deliver key initiatives, reporting, communications and governance across the Thiess Group by enabling collaboration with stakeholders and coordinating monthly and quarterly reporting (Monthly Management Report, HSE and Safety, Sustainability, Compliance Committee packs), the annual Sustainability Report, engagement initiatives, SharePoint Hubs, and controlled documentation and training materials in TMS.

In this role, you will:

  • Support delivery of monthly and quarterly sustainability reporting requirements, including first-pass drafting and collation for MMR, HSE and SSCC packs.
  • Coordinate RAP and social investment reporting with regional stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the Sustainability Report end-to-end delivery, including creation of templates, kick-off packs, schedule and meeting coordination; SME coordination and check-ins.
  • Support delivery of the draft report and databook; development and delivery of the Sustainability Report video and supporting collateral; and post-delivery lessons learnt (including action tracking).
  • Coordinate Sustainability Report case studies with regions for Environment and Social Performance and draft content for review.
  • Maintain and improve Sustainability Report tools and procedures.
  • Maintain Sustainability Communication Plans and develop supporting materials to deliver plan objectives.
  • Deliver communications and engagement initiatives across ESG, Environment and Social Performance, including:
    • DEI event awareness campaigns: coordinate design collateral; draft and schedule social media posts; and prepare internal Viva Engage posts.
    • Awards: manage nominations, interviews, draft submissions and approvals (as required).
    • Industry events and programs: support conferences, networking events, awards and mentoring programs; coordinate internal nominations with People team and leaders; manage attendance/participation; and coordinate post-event feedback and reporting.
    • Sustainability Connects, working groups and communities of practice: develop presentations and supporting materials; coordinate SMEs and meetings for content development and delivery; and support follow-up actions and outcome tracking.
  • Manage and triage ESG, Environment and Social Performance mailboxes as required.
  • Lead the development, maintenance and content updates of SharePoint Hubs for ESG, Environment and Social Performance.
  • Support opt-in Learning Bytes, including research and planning, schedule coordination and promotions.
  • Support non-strategic tender submissions using provided template responses.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve sustainability communications in support of the business.
  • Maintain the mapping and review schedule for Sustainability (ESG, Environment, Social Performance) controlled documents in TMS.
  • Draft, update and upload documents in the Thiess Management System (TMS), and support development of training packs as required.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental management, social sciences, or communications
  • 3-4 years' experience in a communications or coordinator role, preferably with sustainability and/or mining/heavy industry exposure
  • Highly effective communication, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, including coordinating inputs, approvals and deadlines across multiple streams
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, document control and version management
  • Ability to review, synthesize and condense information with an overarching business lens
  • Intermediate Microsoft 365 skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) to support reporting collation, pack preparation and presentation development
  • Experience with SharePoint and internal communication channels (e.g., Viva Engage) to publish and maintain content
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively, including coordinating SMEs and facilitating meetings
