Thiess invites expressions of interest from experienced and aspiring Mining Supervisors who are keen to be considered for future opportunities at Pembroke Resource’s Olive Downs Complex.
Located 40 kilometres southwest of Moranbah, Olive Downs is a dynamic and autonomous mining operation. Since commencing in early 2023, Thiess has delivered comprehensive mining services across mine planning, overburden removal, drill and blast, load and haul (autonomous and manned), water management, rehabilitation, and infrastructure.

About the OpportunityAs a Mining Supervisor at Thiess, you will play a key role in leading crews, driving performance, and maintaining a safe and inclusive working environment. You will thrive in a role that offers autonomy and accountability, while working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.
Typical responsibilities may include:
- Building strong relationships across Technical Services, Maintenance, and Production teams
- Leading and supporting safe work practices, including incident management and investigations
- Conducting safety observations and critical control audits
- Coordinating daily work priorities and operator allocations
- Executing production plans and identifying risks or disruptions
- Participating in daily production meetings and reporting on outcomes
- Promoting a strong “Speak Up” culture aligned with Thiess values
- Supporting the development and competency of operators
We’re interested in hearing from candidates who bring:
- Experience in a Mining Supervisor or similar leadership role
- Strong leadership and team management capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong problem-solving and organisational abilities
- A solid understanding of open-cut mining operations
- Exposure to autonomous haulage and Minestar systems (highly regarded)
