The Opportunity
The Training Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and delivering site-based training and competency programs for a FIFO mining contractor workforce. This role ensures all personnel meet statutory, client, and company training requirements, with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and operational capability across the project.
About The Role
We are seeking an individual with significant demonstrated experience motivating and leading a team of Training Advisors and Trainer Assessors. Based at our Gruyere Mining Operations on a 4/3, 4/3, 8/6 roster from Perth, the Training Manager partners with site leadership and corporate stakeholders to drive a high performance training culture aligned to production and safety outcomes.
Additionally, you will:
- Develop and implement site training strategies aligned with client, legislative, and company requirements.
- Lead the training team (trainers, assessors, administrators) to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement in training systems, materials, and delivery methods.
- Promote a strong safety and competency based training culture across site.
- Maintain Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and site training matrices.
- Oversee competency verification processes (VOC/RPL where applicable).
- Manage audits (internal, client, and regulatory) and close out actions.
- Oversee delivery of site inductions, machine / plant competencies and safety and refresher training.
- Coordinate upskilling programs aligned to workforce planning.
- Identify capability gaps and implement targeted training solutions.
- Manage Learning Management Systems (LMS) and training records.
- Ensure accurate tracking of competencies, licences, and expiries.
- Lead, coach, and mentor training team members.
- Manage performance, development, and succession planning.
- Ensure trainers and assessors maintain required certifications.
About You
To be considered for this role it is essential you have the following requirements:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE).
- Previous experience in a Training Manager or Senior Trainer role within mining or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of mining operations (e.g. production, drill & blast, maintenance).
- Demonstrated experience managing compliance and training systems.
- Experience working in FIFO or remote site environments.
- Diploma in Training Design & Development or similar.
- LMS administration experience.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and planning capability.
- High attention to detail and compliance mindset.
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
- Collaborative and proactive approach.
- Strong integrity and accountability.
