The Opportunity

Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Senior Engineer Environment to join our high-performing team at Indonesia Capability Hub

 

As Senior Engineer Environment, you will:

  • Assist in the facilitation of strong environmental management outcomes across Thiess Group, through the coordination of the Group's Environmental Management System maintenance and revision and the provision of technical support to Group and Regional environmental SMEs.
  • Support key environmental initiatives for the business with coordination of functional, regional and/or consultants as required
  • Keep updated with current and emerging environmental focus areas and legislation Support understanding of Thiess Group’s emissions capture and reporting

  • Identify opportunities to incorporate innovation, add value and continuously improve
  • Support development and delivery of training modules and awareness campaigns Support knowledge capture and sharing on key projects
  • Actively engage with environmental personnel as required
  • Support regions in meeting their annual business plan commitments and provide additional technical, governance and systems support as required
  • Ensure consistent application of the Thiess EMS across all regions
  • Coordinate the ongoing maintenance and revision of the business' environmental management system (EMS), supporting alignment with ISO 14001 requirements
  • Support the development and continual improvement of environmental content in the Thiess Governance System (TGS), including conducting periodic reviews and ensuring alignment with other functions in the business
  • Coordinate management of the agreed internal environmental audit schedule
  • (Project Reviews and Deep Dives), providing reports on findings and support for identified actions as required
  • Support environmental reporting requirements across the business and compile information for leadership, shareholders and committees as required
  • Identify and immediately escalate any areas of unacceptable exposure or risk to the business and its objectives

 

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering/Science/Management or similar technical field
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Site-based/industry environmental management experience
  • Exposure to the development and implementation of ISO 14001 EMS Experience in development and delivery of environmental training
  • Effective communication, both written and oral
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and support delivery of business outcomes
  • Strong analysis and reporting capability Good environmental legislative knowledge
  • Good level of environmental management technical knowledge and understanding of onsite environmental issues
  • Good level of understanding and consideration for current and emerging environmental issues
