The Opportunity

Thiess is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineer Mining to join our dynamic team at the Wahana Coal Mine Project, South Kalimantan

As an Engineer Mining, you will:

• Develop and maintain short-term mine plans, schedules, and designs to meet production targets and contractual requirements.
• Monitor mining activities and ensure alignment with approved mine plans, budgets, and safety standards.
• Analyze production, productivity, cost, and operational performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports on production performance, KPI achievement, and operational progress.
• Coordinate with Operations, Survey, Geology, Drill & Blast, and Planning teams to optimize mining activities.
• Support the development of dig plans, dump plans, haulage strategies, and equipment utilization plans.
• Conduct reconciliation of actual mining performance against planned targets and budgets.
• Monitor compliance with safety, health, environmental, and operational standards.
• Identify and resolve technical mining issues to ensure operational efficiency and productivity.
• Provide technical guidance and support to supervisors, graduate engineers, and technical personnel.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize mine design, production performance, and cost effectiveness.
• Assist with contractor performance monitoring and project reporting requirements

About you

• Bachelor's Degree in Mining Engineering with minimum 2-3 years of experience in open-pit mining operations.
• POP (Pengawas Operasional Pertama) certification or equivalent mining supervisory certification preferred.
• Proficiency in mine planning and design software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Minescape, Spry, XPAC, or similar systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Experience in mine planning, production engineering, scheduling, and operational reporting.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing mining performance and implementing operational improvements.
• Able to communicate in English (written and verbal)
