The Opportunity

Are you detail orientated, enthusiastic with a passion for Health and Safety. Thiess is seeking experienced and motivated Advisor, Health and Safety to join our high-performing team at Olive Downs Complex.

As a key member of the Olive Downs Complex team, you'll be responsible for supporting safe, efficient production across our site while leading a high-performing team.

Roster: 8:6 | Location: Olive Downs Complex, QLD | Employment Type: Fulltime

As the Advisor, Health and Safety, you will:

Working an 8/6 roster and reporting to the Manager, Health and Safety, your duties will include:

• Contributing to the maintenance and implementation of the Safety and Health Management System (SHMS)
• Assisting in the development and facilitation of risk assessments
• Investigating incidents
• Assisting supervisors and employees with the return-to-work process by developing proactive and timely strategies including individual health management plans
• Driving a strong safety culture by liaising with other departments to ensure achievement of the site's safety objectives, timely close out of actions, and event management
• Assisting with the coordination of occupational hygiene monitoring programs
• Assisting in the development and delivery of health promotion initiatives for Olive Downs Complex
• Developing and participating in site health and safety communications including pre-starts, return-to-work, and toolbox meetings.

About you

As a successful applicant, you’ll be a high-achieving team-focused individual who enjoys delivering results in a dynamic environment. Your exceptional relationship-building skills, coupled with your ability to engage and collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.

The following will also ensure your success in this role:

• A genuine passion for the safety and health of our front-line personnel  
• Tertiary qualification in Occupational/Work Health & Safety
• G189 Supervisor/G2 Risk Facilitator Training
• Working knowledge of the Queensland Coal Mining Safety and Health Act and Regulation and Recognised Standards
• Demonstrated experience:
• Facilitating risk assessments
• Updating Safety and Health Management System documentation
• Coordinating rehabilitation and return to work activities for injured workers
• Ability to build strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
