Are you a Maintenance Planner with a passion for driving fleet reliability, optimising maintenance schedules and maximising equipment availability?

Thiess is seeking an experienced and motivated Maintenance Planner to join our high-performing team at Lake Vermont.

As a key member of the Lake Vermont team, you'll be responsible for planning and scheduling maintenance, servicing and repairs across the excavator, drill and ancillary fleets, ensuring compliance with safety and statutory requirements while maximising equipment availability and operational productivity. You'll also manage maintenance systems, budgets, defect reporting and supplier relationships to support parts availability, cost-effective maintenance delivery and efficient short- to medium-term fleet planning.

As the Maintenance Planner, you will:

  • Plan and schedule servicing, maintenance and repairs for the excavator, drill and ancillary fleets, ensuring compliance with all safety and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain and utilise the Maintenance Management System to generate planned maintenance and major component repair cost budgets.
  • Liaise with internal and external suppliers to ensure all parts and materials required to complete scheduled repairs and services are available when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain the known-work list, Defect Reporting System and onsite condition-analysis systems, using the information to update maintenance and service schedules.
  • Minimise plant costs by continually investigating alternative suppliers and competitive pricing.
  • Manage short- and medium-term maintenance scheduling and planning for plant and equipment to maximise fleet availability and optimise operational productivity.

About you

  • Relevant trade or tertiary qualifications, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience scheduling and planning maintenance activities for heavy machinery or processing plant within the mining sector.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to negotiate and influence outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining Liebherr, Komatsu and Caterpillar heavy mining equipment is preferred.
  • Competence in computerised maintenance management systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Project, Word and Excel; knowledge of JDE is highly regarded.
