Your Opportunity

The Training Advisor is accountable to develop, implement and maintain the core business requirements in relation to CPB’s training and social inclusion outcomes for the North Queensland Region. 

What will a day in this role look like:

  • Stakeholder management with key institutions (JCU, CSQ, Veteran Affairs, Training Organisations, Traditional Owners, and local and state govrnment departments)
  • Supporting the NQ region in the development and implementation of BU initiatives that increase participation in relation to trainees, apprentices, and under-represented groups such as women, first nations, and veterans
  • Training and social inclusion outcomes as required by the Defence projects
  • Liaising and engaging with Copper String and other CPB Alliances/JVs on regional initiatives to ensure alignment across CPB
  • Assist new projects to establish the training requirements, plans, systems, policies and procedures that comply with all aspects of the relevant client and legislation requirements for that project.
  • Work collaboratively with projects and BU functions to interpret and apply government training and social inclusion policies and conditions
  • Audit projects and work on corrective actions against the requirements of the policies or client requirements
  • Where required, act as the Project’s ‘dedicated Training Coordinator’ as per the requirements of the contract or client
  • Provide systems training and assistance to sites, during project start up and as required
  • Assist Projects implement initiatives that will assist the projects to meet their training and social inclusion targets
  • Responsible for educating and support the BU’s and projects to achieve our corporate Indigenous employment KPI (currently 3%)
  • Work directly with projects and system SMEs to implement project systems including, but not limited, to Damstra, ADMS, HCM
  • Develop and maintain policies, systems & processes on the Construction Management System (CMS)
  • Data Management, Financial Management, and Reporting.

Our minimum requirements for this role are:

  • Degree or post-graduate qualifications in Business Administration, Human Resources, Training, Indigenous Studies or other associated disciplines
  • Minimum 6-8 years’ experience in training administration, delivery & / or development in a construction or heavy industry in a Vocational Education and Training, social procurement, or Indigenous Affairs 
  • Knowledge of government policies and requirements in the construction industry
  • Demonstrated outcomes implementing programmes targeted towards women, indigenous or other under-represented groups within the building and construction or heavy industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to build positive working relationships at all levels
  • Proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
