About North East Link
The Spark Consortium has been selected for the Central Package of the North East Link Project - Victoria's biggest road project.The Spark Consortium’s Design and Construction Contractor - which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania - will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.
The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbourne’s freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads.
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Project Engineer with experience in large scale civil infrastructure experience to join our Structures team on North East Link Project. The purpose of this role is to hold the responsibility for technical matters associated with the construction of the assigned Project works including steel structures, precast and in-situ concrete elements for the roadway.
This role will be accountable for:
- Coordinate on-site construction engineering activities to achieve project time and budget objectives.
- Responsible to develop and implement procedures to achieve quality, safety, timely production and compliance with budgets.
- Reporting production costs daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Procurement of plant, equipment, and material.
- Write, review and present construction methods to relevant stakeholders.
- Undertake quantitative and qualitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structures and finishes.
- Assign work and assist with reviews for accuracy and adherence to required standards of supplier, subcontractor quotations/purchase orders as well as subcontractor arrangements.
- Demonstrate financial management skills and commercial acumen when making decisions.
- Arrange and oversee the letting of tenders and draft scopes of work for inclusion in subcontract.
Minimum Requirements for this role are:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or similar field of engineering
- Engineer with a minimum of 5-6 years of experience. Construction site experience is desirable.
- Project wide level of planning, development, and review of complex projects
- Ability to manage and mentor a team of engineers.
- Experience in the construction of concrete and steel structures.
- Drafting of subcontract scopes of work for work contracts > $2M
- Excellent project management skills
