Myer is currently seeking a Senior Claims Advisor to work closely with our team members, site people leaders and Claims and Injury Management Advisors to implement effective workers compensation case management and provide technical expertise in workers compensation claims management . You will be a passionate technical workers compensation expert who enjoys working in a small team to develop strategies to improve return to work outcomes, reduce hours lost and mitigate claims costs. You will ensure that claims are managed in accordance with legislative requirements and terms of our self-insurance licences to achieve best practice compliance outcomes.
About the Role:
- End to end management of all aspects of an assigned portfolio of workers compensation claims lodged under the Victorian Myer self-insurance scheme maintaining a level of compliance that maximises self-insurance licence terms.
- Provide technical support to the team about the claims management process in line with Victorian workers compensation law and WorkSafe Victoria guidelines.
- Take the lead on management of disputes, attendance at the Workplace Injury Commission (WIC) and litigated matters, in conjunction with the appointed legal providers, to achieve cost effective outcomes.
- Work with stakeholders to identify and implement effective claims management strategies.
- Ensure that management data systems are maintained for the day-to-day operations of workers compensation claims management and opportunities for improvements are actioned.
- Provide assistance and direction to internal customers on issues relating to claims, incidents and the Myer early intervention program.
- Provide coaching to stores on claims management accountabilities, implementation of Myer Safety System and process compliance.
- Provide support to the Risk & Safety team in the maintenance and development of related reporting, data, and operational systems, including Standard Operating Procedures, Claims Management system, Incident Reporting systems.
About You:
- 3+ years’ experience in the workers compensation scheme, in particular Case Management, Eligibility, and/or Technical Management
- Experience as a Technical Manager, Eligibility Officer, or Senior Case Manager would be well regarded
- Detailed knowledge, understanding and application of Victorian Workplace Injury, Rehabilitation and Compensation (WIRC) legislation and claims management
- Strategic thinker and ability to apply specialist knowledge in development of case management strategies
- Be a confident coach who can advocate for best practice, coaching others in strategies that support recovery and return to work
- Capacity and confidence to make decisions and resolve issues, including non-routine scenarios
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written with an ability translate quite complex information to a variety of different audiences
- Excellent attention to detail with a focus on compliance standards
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines
- Accountable and can work independently, focused on driving outcomes
- A team player who is agile, prepared to support the Risk & Safety team and has a keen interest to learn new skills Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite
