What does the job look like?
The Commercial Analyst is responsible for providing commercial analysis and recommendations, interpretation of financial information and quantitative reporting for the Intermodal business unit. You work to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the operations and maintain optimal performance.
The role is also expected to work with the business development and operational teams to support the growth and development of customer contracts and business to improve BU financial outcomes.

Key areas:
- Advise on the key issues identified as a result of commercial analysis of Intermodal customers to deliver cost effective, productive logistics solutions.
- Assist in implementing process changes and business improvement projects (CI) to effect better operational and financial outcomes.
- Scope, develop, automate, implement, and maintain internal commercial reports to support BU operations.

- Container Movements & Costs
- Site Operating Costs
- Fuel
- Wages & Agency Staff
- Rise & Fall / Diesel Fuel Surcharges
- Fleet Costs
- Audit accuracy of financial and operational information to minimize revenue leakage and cost overruns.
- Sales Order Creation & Completion
- Financial Cut Off for Accounting Periods
- Master Data accuracy (Rates, Fuel levy and R&F)
Are you the one?
You are an Accounting and Finance professional looking to cultivate a successful career within the Commercial space. You have a passion for analysis and transforming numbers into actionable, commercially focused insights. You are an effective communicator and have an ability to manage diverse relationships with clients and colleagues.
You can demonstrate:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, Business, or related field.
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in mid to high tier consultancy firms highly desirable.
- Extensive systems and quantitative analysis experience
- Ability to reconcile financial information with a high level of accuracy.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Analytical capability with exposure to modelling, data mining and summarising.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to consult with a variety of stakeholders.
- Experience working various clients and industry types.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
