About the Role
We’re looking for a sharp, motivated Management Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager – Smiggle, you’ll help deliver month-end results, key financial insights, support budgeting and forecasting, and provide cost control analysis for our Global operations. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive performance and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Month-end Process: Conduct month-end tasks including preparing and posting journals to ensure the completeness and accuracy of expenses
- Cost Control Reporting & Analysis: Conduct detailed month-end reviews of states and store cost centres to ensure accuracy and proper accounting treatment. Analyse cost variances, identify drivers, and provide actionable insights to key stakeholders
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets, monthly, seasonal, and annual financial projections that align with brand strategies. Challenge and validate assumptions to maintain projection accuracy within 95% of actual results.
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations for European operations. Liaise with finance and accounting teams to resolve discrepancies and ensure financial integrity ahead of reporting deadlines
- Royalty & Licensing Management: Coordinate quarterly royalty reporting and payment processes including global licensing reconciliations. Standardise royalty-related procedures and collaborate with licensors to manage forecasts and ad hoc financial requests
- Process Improvement & Collaboration: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency by consolidating financial processes. Support cross-functional learning within the finance team to maintain strong coverage during peak times or leave.
About You
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in financial analysis, preferably within retail, multi-brand, or consumer goods sectors
- Proven ability to prepare and review budgets, forecasts, and financial projections aligned with business strategies
- Hands-on experience managing month-end close activities, including journal posting, cost centre reviews and balance sheet reconciliations
- Strong understanding of cost control and labour reporting in a multi-site retail environment
- Experience working with royalty/licensing financials and managing related reconciliations is highly desirable
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort working with financial systems and reporting tools
- Collaborative mindset with experience working cross-functionally to support business objectives
