The Opportunity
Monash University's Department of Economics is seeking a Research Fellow to join the project titled “Women in STEM: The Longer-Term Effects of Teachers.” This research initiative aims to understand how teacher attitudes, gender biases, and behaviors influence student performance and interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) subjects and careers. Additionally, the project will explore how the school environment impacts teacher gender bias.
As the successful candidate you will be responsible for data collection & analysis, research design, contribute to the preparation of research papers, work closely with academic staff and provide guidance and support to junior researchers and students involved in the project.
Ideally you will have a PhD in Economics of Education or expect to receive it by the commencement of the appointment. An interest in gender economics, economics education policy, and the promotion of diversity in STEM fields will be well regarded.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to impactful research that addresses critical issues in education and gender equality. If you are passionate about advancing knowledge in these areas and making a tangible difference, we encourage you to apply.
