This role focuses on the hands-on delivery of data centre services, including racking, cabling, stacking, and physical asset management. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of our physical data centre environment, which supports both advanced research computing and critical enterprise services.

You will be responsible for the delivery and management of the data centre environment, including:

  • Collaborate with systems engineers, network engineers, and other technical teams to support their hardware deployment and maintenance requirements.
  • Ensuring compliance with Monash University's technical, operational, and security standards across all systems.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Significant experience with structured cabling systems (copper and fibre), including installation, termination, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in managing and maintaining liquid cooling infrastructure, including Coolant Distribution Units (CDUs), and water-cooled server racks in data center environments.
  • Solid understanding of data centre physical infrastructure best practices, including airflow management, power distribution (PDUs), and space utilisation.
  • Understanding of data centre power and cooling infrastructure (e.g., UPS, generators, CRAC units) at an operational level.
  • Practical experience with data centre tools such as cable testers, labelling systems, and DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) software is desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
