The Opportunity

Are you eager to use data to reduce injuries and create a safer world? Do you thrive in multidisciplinary environments where your analytical expertise will shape impactful research outcomes? The Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) is looking for a dynamic and driven Research Fellow to join our Injury Analysis and Data team.

In this pivotal role, you will contribute to cutting-edge research that informs policy and practice  applying safety science to prevent injuries in areas such as transport, the workplace and the home and community. Working closely with leading experts across MUARC, you’ll apply advanced biostatistical methods to complex datasets, helping uncover insights that improve lives and prevent injury.

As a Research Fellow, you’ll be at the forefront of data-driven discovery, designing analytical approaches, interpreting results, and communicating the findings to stakeholders including government and industry. Your work will span independent and collaborative research projects, with opportunities to publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at conferences, and contribute to grant applications.

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A qualification in biostatistics, statistics, econometrics, or equivalent substantial experience.
  • Proven ability to analyse large, complex datasets using advanced statistical techniques.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and a talent for translating data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A collaborative mindset and a commitment to research excellence.

This is more than a research role, it’s a chance to be part of a team that’s shaping the future of injury prevention and safety science. If you’re ready to make a real-world impact through rigorous analysis and innovative thinking, we’d love to hear from you.

Please note: The successful applicant to this role will be appointed at either Level A or Level B depending on their qualifications and level of experience in this field
