The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Research Engineer – Data Analysis to join our Data Analysis Team. In this role, you will contribute to the research and development of structural health condition monitoring solutions for the railway industry.

Working under the guidance of the Data Analysis Team Leader, you will:

  • Undertake complex and bespoke design solutions to address practical engineering challenges in structural health monitoring systems.
  • Apply industry design standards and practices across both hardware and software development.
  • Work with a wide variety of sensors, including accelerometers, acoustic sensors, and imaging systems.
  • Support Monash IRT’s state-of-the-art condition monitoring systems, ensuring continuous operation and accurate reporting to industry partners.
  • Contribute to the development of new reporting tools and collaborate with partner groups and IRT engineers.
  • Engage directly with industry partners, requiring a high degree of professionalism, maturity, and strong organisational skills.

We’re seeking candidates who are passionate about engineering innovation and data-driven problem solving. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in engineering principles, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
